TasmaNet has signed a binding Term sheet to sell Hobart's DC3 data centre.
Communications specialist TasmaNet has signed a binding Term sheet to sell the assets of the DC3 data centre in Hobart to Australian data centre specialist DXN Ltd. DC3 data centre management will continue to be undertaken by TasmaNet, on behalf of DXN.
TasmaNet Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Aris said, “TasmaNet DC3 was the first non-government data centre built in Tasmania, a visionary decision that led to our development of the innovative TasmaNet Core cloud platform that enables the delivery of enterprise quality Data Centre and Cloud services to our business, government and education customers."
“TasmaNet is delighted to announce this transaction with DXN, and to continue to provide our customers with a great experience using this excellent facility for their Data Centre requirements. The Hobart Data Centre has a strong customer base including key sovereign clients and we are experiencing very solid annual growth, which we expect to continue as we further our national expansion and acquire new customers.”
Matthew Madden, CEO, DXN Limited said, “Our plan is to continue to expand our carrier neutral Edge data centre footprint in Australia and New Zealand. This target will be achieved by developing new greenfield modular data centres, such as our new Sydney DC and / or acquiring existing operating data centres such as DC3.”
DC3 is a modular designed DC currently at Tier II+ with 30 racks and the capacity to expand to 100. It is a government accredited Data Centre that provides services to the Tasmanian Government, amongst others.
